Once the summer resort of the Hawaiian queen, the Queen Emma Summer Palace was heavily used in the mid-19th century by the royal family as a place of relaxation and luxury. The palace has been converted into a museum filled with some of the queen's own possessions: beautiful Victorian and locally-produced antique. Providing a glimpse into the uniquely privileged lives of the ruling class in Hawaii, the palace sits to the northeast of the city, about a mile past the Royal Mausoleum State Monument and near Oahu Country Club.
